Â鶹´«Ã½Policy and Goal
Â鶹´«Ã½Policy on Health Insurance
Health insurance is only mandatory for international students; however, Â鶹´«Ã½encourages all students to think about their health insurance needs and to enroll in a plan that provides adequate coverage.
For international students: All non-immigrants on student visas are required to enroll in a University of Â鶹´«Ã½ endorsed student health insurance plan or furnish proof of enrollment in a health program whose benefits meet the minimum insurance requirements set by the President or the President's designee. (University of Hawaii Board of Regents Policy (7-7))
Goal of Â鶹´«Ã½on Health Insurance
If students become ill or injured and have no insurance, they may not be able to continue their education because of financial concerns. By requiring or strongly encouraging purchase of adequate health insurance, the University's goal is to have students fulfill their educational objectives at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½.
