Overview

The University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ John A. Burns School of Medicine is a Âé¶¹´«Ã½Mānoa facility that sits on a 9.9-acre site, in the Kakaako district on the Island of Oʻahu. The 184,142-square-foot building complex includes laboratories and offices for biomedical research such as wet laboratory and gross anatomy facilities, research animal facilities, a Biosafety Level 3 research laboratory, and shared research core facilities for Molecular and Cellular Immunology, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Microarray Analysis, Molecular Pathology, Histopathology and Microscopy, BSL Containment, Pathogen Reference and Reagents, and Histology and Imaging.

The facility earned the LEED Certification for incorporation of water efficient fixtures, diverting at least 75% of all construction waste away from landfills, using low-emitting materials throughout, for providing alternative transportation such as public transportation and bike faciities, and more.
