To grow Sustainability across University Planning and Operations.
Vision Statement
We want to work with departments, students, agencies, and utilities to advance sustainability across the University System Operations and Planning through engagement, outreach, goals setting, planning and project development, and publishing our performance.
Priorities
- Work with campus stakeholders to set goals and policies to improve sustainability performance metrics across planning and operations.
- Track and report on progress against the goals
- Publish and market performance to guide the narrative and promote the university
- Develop projects and plans to help these achieve goals
- Create and manage funds and investments toward achieving these goals
- Work with utilities, agencies, and communities to synergize solutions for the campuses and communities we serve
- Support and grow student engagement in SOP to leverage the campus as a Living Learning Laboratory
- Create partnerships with departments, and student organizations to engage in our own brain trust to help advancement against the goals.
As part of our mission, we align our initiatives with the following policies:
- Board of Regents Policy RP 4.208 – Sustainability Policy: Establishes sustainability as a core priority in university planning, operations, and decision-making.
- Executive Policy 4.202 – System Sustainability: Outlines system-wide sustainability objectives, strategies, and accountability measures to integrate sustainability into all aspects of university operations.
- : Mandates that the university achieve net-zero energy by 2035, reinforcing a commitment to renewable energy and efficiency improvements.
