Hale La’akea Library & Learning Center – LEED Silver

Overview

The University of Hawai'i Hale Laʻakea is located on the Windward Community College campus. The facility serves as the Library Learning Commons for the campus. This facility is a three story, 69,000-square-foot building. It's programs include Computing Services, Library, Media, Marketing, and the Ka Piko Student Success Center.

The building earned the LEED Silver rating for implementation of various sustainable strategies. These strategies include diverting 75% of construction waste from disposal, achieving no potable water use or irrigation in landscaping, planting drought-tolerant species, a roof mounted photovoltaic system and much more.
