Overview
The Hale Aloha building located on the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½'s Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Community College campus was originally built as a student dormitory in the late 1960s. The building was renovated to LEED Gold in 2016 as a new facility for the Nursing & Allied Health Division. Hale Aloha renovations includes offices for nursing faculty, two simulation labs, and a conference room on the first floor, and two nursing labs and two classrooms on the second floor.
Hale Aloha earned the LEED Gold rating for incorporating water and energy efficient fixtures, green roof installation, diverting construction waste from landfills, using sustainably sourced wood, and for integrating alternative transportation access. Hale Aloha features rain water harvesting and ultra low-flow fixtures that reduce potable water use by more than 26,000 gallons per year. Energy savings including daylighting and reducing heat island effects are estimated to save more than 100,000 kWh per year.
