Overview

Site Description: The University of Â鶹´«Ã½ Dance Building is located on the Â鶹´«Ã½Mānoa campus. It is a 7,523-square-foot single-story modular building located on upper campus that was constructed in 2013. The building provides additional classrooms, offices and a large dance studio for the department of theater and dance.

The building earned the LEED Gold rating for its implementation of various features and sustainable strategies including installation of occupancy sensors to conserve electricity, installation of photovoltaic and solar heating systems, extensive use of skylights and windows for efficient use of daylighting, electrically operated windows, daylight sensing and motion controls in small offices, classrooms, and the dance studio. The air conditioning system was a modular system that was designed to give the users the most flexibility as dancers demand a warm environment to prevent injuries so the building was designed to provide air conditioning as a backup to the natural ventilation.
