Kudos to BA in SLS students Michelle Akamine and Victoria Lee, who have received awards from the (UROP) for their projects documenting and analyzing a young Japanese boy’s English language development during a 1-year stay in Hawai‘i and after his return to Japan. The awards will allow Michelle and Victoria to travel to Japan this summer and fall to continue documenting the boy’s English language development, retention, and possible attrition after moving back to Japan. Michelle and Victoria are conducting their projects under the supervision of Dr. Theres Grüter (UH) and Dr. Yuki Hirose (University of Tokyo).
Congratulations, Michelle and Victoria, and safe travels!
