
Born on Oʻahu, Kallen spent much of her life growing up in Hawaiʻi and lived in Taiwan for 10 years. She is a second-year MA student in the Department of Second Language Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where she also earned her bachelor’s degree in Second Language Studies. During her undergraduate studies, Kallen taught English in Thailand, focusing on effective speaking and listening. Her academic interests include multilingualism, teacher identity, pedagogical materials development, and Hawaiʻi Creole (Pidgin). In her free time, she enjoys lei making, attending concerts, and playing board games with family and friends. This semester, she is a Graduate Assistant providing administrative support for the SLS undergraduate program and a Teaching Assistant at the English Language Institute.
