Award-winning UH Hilo scholar-athlete finds fun 7,000 miles from home

Tennis player Luca Matheiowetz was named the 2022–23 Joe and Harriet Estrella Male Scholar-Athlete.

UH Hilo shortstop Casey Yamauchi caps his collegiate career with Academic All-America Third Team honors.

Fifth-year UH Hilo shortstop Casey Yamauchi was named to the West All-Region Second Team.

UH Hilo’s Aurea Streadbeck and Sabina Boo-Rivera were named to the 2022–23 Academic All-District Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team.

UH Hilo women’s basketball player Bree Olson was honored for achieving the highest cumulative GPA with at least five semesters as a Vulcan.

Joshua Liu, Luca Matheiowetz, Julia Barden and Casydee De Mattos were honored for the 2022–23 season.

Several UH Hilo student-athletes received honors, including athletes of the year, “Most Pono Vulcan” and more.

UH Hilo softball player Jayda Favela and baseball player Vance Oshiro were named KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week, April 19–May 2.
