
The University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ went 1-1 over Thanksgiving weekend, falling in five sets to the University of California, Santa Barbara on senior night, after capturing the Big West title outright with a four-set win over California State University, Northridge (CSUN) on November 26. With the win, the Rainbow Wahine punched its ticket into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½ overcame a slow start and then rolled past CSUN to extend its win-streak to 10 and its home conference win streak to 16. The Rainbow Wahine were powered by Amber Igiede¡¯s match-high 16 kills while Brooke Van Sickle, Riley Wagoner and Kate Lang all recorded double-doubles.
The team will be heading to Seattle, Wash. for the 2021 NCAA Tournament¡¯s first and second rounds. The Rainbow Wahine will open play against No. 24 Mississippi State on Friday, December 3 at Washington¡¯s Alaska Airlines Arena. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. HST.
This marks the team¡¯s 10th Big West title and sixth since rejoining the conference in 2012. It is UH¡¯s 25th overall conference title (15 Western Athletic Conference regular season titles) and the second conference crown for fourth year head coach, Robyn Ah Mow.
