Out-of-state students interested in exploring sustainability issues in an island context are invited to apply to the . The 14-day immersive travel experience is being offered by the UH Office of Sustainability, , the UH Mānoa (TPSS) and The Green Program.
Selected applicants will be delegates at the World Youth Congress (WYC) 2017 and participate in a global gathering of the next generation of sustainability leaders. WYC serves as a chance for active, innovative and capable young leaders from all over the globe to come together for a week-long event packed with activities.

Leading up to the congress, students will take classes from , assistant professor of indigenous crops and cropping systems in the TPSS department. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credits during this summer program.
In class lectures include (but are not limited to)*:
- Introduction to sustainable food systems and energy in Â鶹´«Ã½
- Theory and practice of sustainable agriculture
- Politics of food in Â鶹´«Ã½ on a global context
- Food sovereignty, nutrition and human well being: reconnecting food, nature and community

The class includes site visits to and as well as tours of hydroelectric and wind energy power plant tours.
