Lab Safety Training

Initial Laboratory Safety Training Information:

  • Lab Safety training is required for all university employees working in the laboratory environment. The training is general and covers the contents of the , physical and health hazards of chemicals, and methods and observations used to detect hazardous conditions.
  • Initial Lab Safety Training is delivered online via Laulima until midnight December 31, 2025.Ìý
  • Initial Lab Safety Training will be delivered via LamakÅ« beginning Janauary 1, 2026. There are no in-person Initial Lab Safety Training courses scheduled at this time.
  • Please complete the Google form below to sign up for the online Initial Lab Safety Training course. It may take 1-2 business days to process your request.Ìý
  • ONLY Âé¶¹´«Ã½users with a Âé¶¹´«Ã½username will be able to access the EHSO online trainings in LamakÅ« beginning January 1, 2026. Laulima will no longer be available after midnight on December 31, 2025.Ìý All Âé¶¹´«Ã½employees, faculty, staff and students, should have a LamakÅ« account. If you were missed in the transition, you may request an account by completing the form here:
  • If you are a NON-Âé¶¹´«Ã½USER, please continue to fill out the google registration form at the link below so we, EHSO, can begin the process of requesting you a LamakÅ« guest user account. We thank you for your patience during this LMS transition as it may take up to 4 days to process the guest accounts.Ìý
  • For record-keeping purposes, please provide a copy of all your training documents to your PI or lab supervisor.
  • We are unable to issue certificates at this time so please take a screenshot of your passing scores and training verificatons and keep all receipts received by email or otherwise until the system can be fine-tuned to prove and verify your training has been successfully completed.Ìý

Annual Laboratory Refresher Safety Training Information:

  • This training is required annually following completion of the initial online course provided by the Âé¶¹´«Ã½EHSO.Ìý
  • The lab group’s Principal Investigator or designated lab manager shall conduct annual refresher training using the ensuring all sections are covered.Ìý
  • Once complete, this checklist and all other training documentation should be kept on hand for review during EHSO or other regulatory agency inspections.Ìý
