The BOR is currently in the process of hiring, by January 31, an executive search company.
The new president would begin in fall 2024, replacing current President David Lassner, who announced that he will retire in 2024.

Lassner also provided the latest update on the SCR 201 Tenure Task Force and the impact of a possible federal government shutdown on the university.
The UH Board of Regents approved a resolution to clarify the university¡¯s role regarding the transfer of UH¡¯s management responsibilities on Maunakea to the Mauna Kea Stewardship and Oversight Authority.
Lassner also provided updates on the tenure project and the RISE innovation center and student housing project.
