Alejado preparing to throw the football

University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ quarterback Micah Alejado was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season after leading the Rainbow Warriors to a 27¨C7 home victory over Wyoming. The Rainbow Warriors are awaiting their bowl game assignment after wrapping up the regular season with an 8-4 overall record and 5-3 in conference play.

The redshirt freshman has received the award seven times in his career after winning it for the first time last season.

Alejado set a new UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ freshman single-season record throwing his 20th and 21st touchdown passes against Wyoming, surpassing Timmy Chang (19 in the 2000 season). He completed 17-of-24 attempts for 289 yards and a pair of scoring strikes to Cam Barfield and Jackson Harris.

In total, UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ has received 17 Mountain West player of the week awards this season¡ªthree offensive, three defensive, five special teams and six freshmen¡ªby far, the most in a single-season in program history, breaking the previous mark of seven in 2021.
