University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ women’s swimmer Holly Nelson was named Big West Athlete of the Week following a pair of outstanding performances against Grand Canyon University. The honor marks Nelson’s first career weekly award.

Nelson led the Rainbow Wahine with eight podium finishes, including six wins and a team-high 34 points across the two dual meets.

In the October 24 home opener, Nelson earned three victories and one bronze. She helped the ¡®Bows achieve a 140-84 win and led the team with 12 points. Nelson contributed to victories in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay, while also taking first in the 100 free and third in the 50 free.

Nelson raised the bar even higher during the October 25 rematch against the Lopes, posting a meet-high 22 points with three more wins and one runner-up finish. She helped set two Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex records, winning the 50 free by breaking the record set just the day before, and anchoring UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹¡¯s 200 free relay (1:30.92) with a 21.94 split, surpassing the previous record of 1:31.74 set in 2000.
