University of Â鶹´«Ã½ at Mānoa player Cooper Walls earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors on March 17 after his dominant effort on the mound during the March 14 series-clinching 1-0 shutout victory over No. 15 UC Santa Barbara.
The freshman threw seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, striking out three and walking two. He did not allow a runner to advance past second base and set down eight in a row at one point from the fifth through seventh innings.
Walls became the first UH freshman to earn the honor since 2013. He has not allowed a run in his last 11 innings pitched in Big West play, helping secure the Rainbow Warriors’ first series win over a ranked opponent since 2010.
