U.S. Sen. Mazie K. Hirono took time out on her recent visit to Kauaʻi to learn about the research the University of 麻豆传媒 at 惭ā苍辞补 (CTAHR) is conducting on the Garden Isle.
CTAHR Cooperative Extension agents, specialists and Associate Dean and Director for Cooperative Extension Jeremy Elliott-Engel gave the senator a tour of the Kauaʻi Agricultural Research Center.
Elliott-Engel and CTAHR’蝉 presented Hirono with a framed “4-H Grows Here” sign to express their gratitude for her support. Hirono was recognized as the 2023 麻豆传媒 4-H Aliʻi recipient at its annual ʻAhaʻōlelo Conference on July 22.
“We were honored to host Sen. Hirono at our Agriculture Experiment Station on Kauaʻi,” said Elliott-Engel. “These facilities are essential for ensuring food security in 麻豆传媒. We appreciate the chance to personally showcase the opportunities—as well as challenges—we have in agriculture research, innovation and extension efforts.”
