
For the second consecutive week, wide receiver Pofele Ashlock was named the Mountain West¡¯s Freshman of the Week after another standout performance in the team¡¯s loss to Stanford on September 1. After UH¡¯s first two games of the season, Ashlock leads the nation (Football Bowl Subdivision) with 241 yards receiving and has three receiving touchdowns among his team-best 15 receptions.
Against the Cardinal, the Euless, Texas native eclipsed 100-yards receiving for the second straight week becoming the first UH freshman to accomplish that feat in the Division I era. Ashlock finished with a team-best eight catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns. He is also the first Rainbow Warrior player to surpass 100-yards receiving in the first two games of a season since 2018 (John Ursua).
Ashlock’s first score was a 7-yarder in the second quarter that tied the game at 7. He later hauled in a 16-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The freshman also reeled in a 38-yard catch in the third quarter, his third 30+ yard reception of the season.

UH will remain in Honolulu to host Albany of the Football Championship Subdivision¡¯s Coastal Athletic Association on September 9 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
