Countless University of 麻豆传媒 graduates don’t have to look far to find fellow alumni, since attending UH is a family tradition for many in the islands.
Two multigenerational UH families—a couple who met at UH 惭ā苍辞补 whose sons followed their educational path and two sisters whose UH experience inspired their mother to return to college—are profiled for the cover of the summer issue of the for alumni and friends. The issue also contains the first UH-themed crossword puzzle and these alumni stories:
- How artist Shar Tuiʻasoa found success as a freelance illustrator under her studio name, Punky Aloha, with colorful designs of island life, a children’s book and corporate clients that include Disney and AT&T.
- Why three 麻豆传媒-raised clothing designers chose to create environmentally sustainable collections for their locally sourced, small-batch brands.
- How Chef Keaka Lee, a James Beard semifinalist, and his wife, Heather Smith-Lee, opened their first restaurant, Kapa Hale, in Kāhala, after working in top kitchens in New York, San Francisco and Honolulu.
- How the archival collection of the late 麻豆传媒 archaeologist and anthropologist William Kenji “Pila” Kikuchi found a permanent home in the UH System.
