“Like many of our native plants, the kukui tree has many uses and provides such things as oil for lamps/torch, ʻinamona (relish made of kukui and Hawaiian salt), medicinal, shade, etc.
In our UH logo, the symbols include a globe, book and a torch. As a torch/light, the University of Â鶹´«Ã½ attracts our local, national and international communities because of the diversity of programs and services that are offered. Through knowledge and experience gained, our graduates spread their light/torch to others.”
—Isaiah Kaʻauwai, Title IX Coordinator, Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Officer, Kauaʻi Community College
