The University of Â鶹´«Ã½ at Hilo and basketball teams recently faced Academy of Art University and Dominican University of California. This week¡¯s Pepsi Athletes of the Week are Bree Olson and Jamie Strong—both players helped their teams pick up two wins.
Olson made her first debut of the 2021-22 season on January 13 against Academy of Art. Olson scored seven points against the Urban Knights and contributed an assist in the Vulcans¡¯ 66-58 win. She was a spark plug in the Vulcans¡¯ offensive on January 17 against the Penguins. She scored six of UH Hilo¡¯s 13 points in the first quarter and ended the night with a total of 11 points.
Strong scored 12 points and dished out three assists in the Vulcans¡¯ 75-72 victory over Academy of Art on January 13. He was key on defense where he collected four boards and snagged a steal. Strong tallied nine points against the Urban Knights. He came off the bench and downed two 3-pointers in UH Hilo¡¯s 86-78 victory. He also tabbed one block and one rebound.
