127 Vulcans student athletes earn academic honors

Honorees from a variety of majors and sports were recognized for excellence in the classroom.

The Vulcans wrapped up a week-long trip to Japan, highlighted by exhibition games against Josai University and Nippon Sport Science University.

UH Hilo basketball players Kaile Cruz, Melanie Hiu, Mindy Kawaha, Fabio Da Rocha, Jamal Entezami and Julio Montes II were recognized.

The team earned All-Academic Team honors after competing at the NCAA Division II West Regional.

The four student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors, with Isabella Freeman advancing to the national ballot.

Vulcans pitcher Janessa Santos was recognized by the Pacific West Conference following a shutout against Chaminade.

UH Hilo’s Julio Montes II scored a season high of 35 against Azusa Pacific.

UH Hilo secured second place with 43.5 total points for a 10.88 average in the PacWest 2025–26 Bob Hogue Commissioner's Cup.
