“They are awesome. They are really fun people. I like being around them. They work really hard.”

That¡¯s how award winning Disney animator Renato do Anjos described the he was working with.

The students in the five-day workshop enjoyed instruction and one-on-one interaction with a master who served as head of animation for Zootopia and Wreck-It Ralph.

“It¡¯s a lot harder than it looks, definitely,” said Kapiʻolani CC student Koreena Nagai. “I¡¯ve been having a great time in this program and I¡¯m very grateful for him coming out.”

Dos Anjos demonstrated the minute details of creating natural hip and leg movements using the MAYA animation software program projected on a big screen. Then the students worked on their ongoing animation projects, while he offered helpful hands-on hints.

“For me the most important thing about the work is the potential and (for) all of them, I saw that,” said dos Anjos. “ I?m really happy with what they are doing.”
