On February 18, 2025? the Department of State announced an that changes the eligibility requirements for nonimmigrant visa applicants who may qualify for an in-person visa interview waiver.?
The updated policy states that nonimmigrant visa applicants are eligible for interview waiver if they are renewing a visa in the same category and if that visa expired less than 12 months prior to the new visa application.??
To be eligible for an interview waiver, applicants must also:
- apply in their country of nationality or residence;
- have never been refused a visa (unless such refusal was overcome or waived); and
- have no apparent or potential ineligibility.
