There are a number of great resources at 鶹ýand online that can help you through your journey of learning English at UH. Here are some of them.

鶹ýCampus Academic Resources

  • Includes registration deadlines, holidays, and other useful dates
  • : CASE provides pronunciation tutoring for members of the 鶹ýMānoa community who speak English as an additional language.
  • : Free academic coaching and in-person and online tutoring.
  • : One-on-one tutoring help for homework assignments. They also provide help with research, vocabulary and summarizing.
  • : Located at Sinclair Library, this center can help you with your study needs.
  • : Sign up online to have a one-on-one appointment with a writing tutor. Bring your assignment and whatever you have written so far, and trained tutors will help you improve your paper.

Reading

  • : Listen while you read a variety of stories, articles or interviews.
  • : You can download ReadLang to your web browser and read anything on the internet with a built-in bilingual dictionary. You can also create flashcards from the words that you look up.

Vocabulary

  • : this is a list of words that come up frequently in English academic writing.
  • : play an online vocabulary game that donates food to the hungry as you play.
  • : make an online deck of flashcards and study anything you want.
  • : play a vocabulary challenge game using your own word list or words generated by the program.

Writing and Grammar

  • :  Basic grammar lessons on a range of  topics (nouns, verbs, adjectives, sentence parts, etc.)
  • : Over 3,000 phrasal verbs with explanations.
  • this website has an amazing amount of information about academic writing, and it’s especially useful when you’re learning how to use academic citations in your papers.

Listening and Speaking

  • : Public broadcasting that focuses on educational shows for adults and children on various topics.
  • : Various listening activities from easy to difficult. Includes quizzes, interviews and cultural videos.
