The Gen Ed outcomes describe the<br \/>\nknowledge, skills, and competencies that all UHM undergraduates should attain regardless of<br \/>\nmajor in support of UHM\u2019s mission of providing a \u201cflexible and diverse multidisciplinary<br \/>\ncurriculum\u201d (University of Hawai\u02bbi at M\u0101noa, 2019, General Education Goals para. 2). These<br \/>\noutcomes are currently achieved through courses that have received Gen Ed Foundations,<br \/>\nDiversification and Focus designations. This document describes a proposed plan for assessing<br \/>\nthe Gen Ed Program that aims to be \u201cmeaningful, manageable and sustainable\u201d (Allen, 2006, p.<br \/>\n18). The document describes a continual process of collecting data on student outcomes,<br \/>\nevaluation of these data, and a procedure for recommending responses by the GEO and UHM<br \/>\nfaculty. These assessment activities are essential for enabling the UHM Gen Ed Program to<br \/>\ncontinuously improve while adapting to changing learning needs and educational approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Reference<br \/>\nAllen, M.
