PIKO: Po¡¯o, Ike, Kino, and ¡®Ohana Project

Build a Native Hawaiian Health, Wellness and Recreation facility to strengthen Native Hawaiian student engagement and retention through expanded holistic health and wellness programming and services, and culturally responsive student and faculty development.

Create Nursing Simulation Lab for state-of-the art training in health related concentrations to increase retention, academic achievement, engagement, and graduation rates and address critical workforce shortages in the area of health sciences and health related occupations by providing support services, and programming for Native Hawaiian student success.

Improve health equity of Native Hawaiians by increasing Native Hawaiian/community-based and integrated approaches to health and wellbeing by ensuring initiatives that incorporate cultural knowledge and practice into collaboration and partnerships.

Renovate and expand the Library to create a Cultural and Performing Arts and Education Amphitheater with a community kitchen for student and campus events and activities that encompass all aspects of Native Hawaiian wellbeing, cultural understanding, and community engagement. Central to building campus communities is the creation of a Native Hawaiian space that is distinctive and promotes educational and cultural activities that engage students, staff, faculty, administrators and family in a community of learners.
