The main corporate site for WebCT has over 2,000 e-Packs in more than 50 disciplines and they are all created by leading higher education publishers, including McGraw-Hill, Thomson Learning, Pearson and more. \par \par }{\b\i\cf6 NOTE}{\i\cf6 : In most cases e-packs come in a zipped format, which once restored to a course will overwrite any existing materials with the e-pack content. It may be b est to create a backup of a course prior to restoring an e-pack which will allow you to restore the course back to its original format if needed. \par }{\i \par For more information about epacks and links to some publishers submission forms visit the main WebCT corporate site by going to http://webct.com. \par }{ \par }{\b Submitting an e-pack request: \par }{The process of submitting a request is dependent on the publisher but in most cases the submission form will ask for a WebCT Administrator or contact person from your campus as well as the version of WebCT currently being used. \par \par You can contact Linda Mcconnell (mcconnel@hawaii.edu) for detailed information on who should be listed as Administrator or contact person for UH. The version of WebCT that should be listed is 3.x - 4.x or 4.1x. \par \par }{\b Downloading an e-pack: \par }{The downloading or accessing of requested e-packs are dependent upon publisher, but in most cases once a publisher processes an e-pack request they send an email which contains a URL, username and password used to download the e-pack. \par \par 1. Click or copy and paste the URL (from within the email sent to you by the publisher) into a browser address bar. \par \par 2. You will be asked to log in, enter the username and password indicated in the email and click "OK" when done. \par \par 2. Locate and area on your computer in which to download the file (at this point you can make the name shorter by typing in a new title, making sure you keep the .zip extension name) and click Save. \par \par }{\b NOTE: an e-pack file is typically in a zipped or compressed format and not meant to be unzipped or opened upon download. \par }{ \par }{\i In some cases the computer will automatically want to unzip the compressed file on download, if it is unzipped you can trash the unzipped folder, since it is the zipped file that will be uploaded and restored to the course. \par }{ \par \par }{\b Upload and Restore e-pack to Course: \par }{1. Log all the way into your course on either the Instructional (http://webct.hawaii.edu) or Development (http://facultywebct.hawaii.edu) server and select "Control Panel". \par \par 2. Select the "Manage Course" button. \par \par 3. Select the link for "Upload backup". \par \par 4. Select the "Browse" button. \par \par 5. Locate the file on your local computer, click once to select, click "Open" and click the "Upload" button. \par \par 6. Confirm the radio button is selected next to the uploaded e-pack, over on the right select the button for "}{\b KEEP Users}{ " (on the Instructional side you MUST select KEEP USERS in order to maintain registered students in the course) and click "Ok" if prompted. \par \par WAIT till the progression bar is blue and WebCT informs you the restoration was successful/completed (corruption may occur if you do not wait for the entire process to finish) and click "Continue". \par \par The course should now reflect what was contained in the e-pack. \par }}
