Gavin Lamb<\/strong> was awarded a Bilinksi Dissertation Fellowship to conduct dissertation research and writing on the topic of \u201cgreen applied linguistics\u201d \u2013 a new sub-field which examines the links between language, people, and the environment. Through studying the ways that tourists, residents, and conservationists communicate in the context of endangered Hawaiian green sea turtles on O\u2018ahu\u2019s North Shore, he seeks to better understand how conservation can be balanced with people\u2019s interest in wildlife tourism and residents\u2019 rights to use the ocean for recreation. His research aims to inform policymaking in the fields of tourism and conservation.<\/p>\n
