In the language learning context, blended learning practices include \u201cflipping\u201d previously classroom-delivered content to be distributed via various technology-mediated environments outside of class, while class time is used for collaborative projects, activities, and tasks with an emphasis on team building and negotiation for meaning. BL also creates new affordances of modalities for learning, interactivity, and collaboration, such as Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex), Synchronous, Asynchronous, and In-Person formats.<\/p>\n<p>In this pedagogical course, we will engage in three major activities: 1) reading and discussing BL modalities and theories, 2) creating lesson plans and curricula by applying BL modalities, theories, and technologies, and 3) producing a final product, which can be a series of blended learning activities adaptable to various instructional contexts, or future teaching or curricula development settings.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of topics for the final project:<br \/>\n\u2022 Testing out affordances of various technologies for supporting language learning and use<br \/>\n\u2022 Designing instructional activities to link in-class and out-of-class learning<br \/>\n\u2022 Theorizing relationships between technology-mediated spaces and places (such as place-based learning)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Readings:<\/strong><br \/>\nSelected chapters from the following volumes, relevant journal articles, and web-based resources, such as Blended Learning Essentials (Language Flagship Technology Innovation Center (n.d.).<\/p>\n<p>Beatty, B.
