More than 4,000 <abbr>STEM<\/abbr> professionals, scientists, engineers and college students are expected to attend 2019 <abbr title=\"Society for the Advancement of Chicanos\/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science\">SACNAS<\/abbr>&#8212;The National Diversity in <abbr>STEM<\/abbr> Conference.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is produced and hosted by Society for the Advancement of Chicanos\/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (<abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr>), an inclusive organization with more than 45 years of experience of fostering the success underrepresented minorities in <abbr>STEM<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbrc.hawaii.edu\/\">Pacific Biosciences Research Center<\/a> Program Director and <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> Board Member <strong>Healani Chang<\/strong> said, &ldquo;The <span aria-label=\"Ilima\">&#699;Ilima<\/span> <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> Chapter, with members from several <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> institutions, was key to bringing this important conference to our state. <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> always presents tremendous opportunities for networking and mentorship for <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s college students. Keep checking this site for updates.<\/p>\n<h2>Research presentation opportunities<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.2019sacnas.org\/research-presentations\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> undergraduates can apply during the summer application time frame<\/a> (June 5&#8211;July 8) regardless of whether it is the regular academic year research or summer research using the summer submission link.<\/p>\n<p>Accepted applicants will have the opportunity to refine presentation skills, receive one-on-one mentoring and feedback on research, and connect with a supportive community of peers and role models throughout the conference.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> graduate students are also eligible to submit their proposals during the same time frame via a special link just for <abbr>UH<\/abbr>. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> <abbr>STEM<\/abbr> students interested in submitting a research presentation application for the 2019 <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> conference must contact <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> Student Programs Manager Kateryna Poradiuk directly at <a href=\"mailto:kateryna@sacnas.or\">kateryna@sacnas.or<\/a>g for the special application links.
