Steger<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A recently published book honors the contributions that a University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa professor has made to the field of global studies. <strong>Manfred B. Steger<\/strong> has helped develop this emerging transdisciplinary academic field exploring globalization dynamics over the last two decades. Steger, a professor in the sociology department in the <a href=\"http:\/\/socialsciences.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Social Sciences<\/a>, is one of the most prominent and widely-cited globalization scholars in the world today.<\/p>\n<p><em>Revisiting the Global Imaginary: Theories, Ideologies, Subjectivities: Essays in Honor of Manfred Steger<\/em> explores Steger\u2019s extensive body of work on globalization. One of the most influential scholars in this field, his conceptualization of global imaginary is among the most significant developments in thinking about globalization of the last three decades.<\/p>\n<p>The book, edited by associate professors Chris Hudson and Erin Wilson, pays tribute to Steger\u2019s work and explores practices associated with the reproduction of the global imaginary in such diverse sites such as mobile money, Irish pubs, cyber-capitalism, urban space, music in post-apartheid South Africa and global political movements. <\/p>\n<p>Steger has served as a globalization advisor to the <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> State Department and has delivered dozens of invited lectures at major universities around the world. He is currently collaborating on globalization issues with scholars at Western Sydney University, Australia, and other academics in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region associated with the Global Studies Consortium housed at the University of California Santa Barbara. <\/p>\n<h2>About the editors<\/h2>\n<p>Chris Hudson is an associate professor of Asian media and culture in the School of Media and Communication at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Erin Wilson is an associate professor of politics and religion at the Centre for Religion, Conflict and Globalization, Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, at the University of Groningen, Netherlands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manfred B.
