The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa Commuter Services<\/a> department has partnered with the City and County of Honolulu\u2019s “Look All Ways” initiative to encourage pedestrian safety on and near campus. On March 21, Commuter Services and city staff painted two cautionary “Look All Ways” stencils on the sidewalk by the Dole Street crosswalk fronting the William S. Richardson School of Law and law library. In upcoming months, pedestrians will notice more of these bright yellow symbols in various locations around UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa.<\/p>\n

“We are excited to work with the City and County as one of the locations on Oʻahu<\/span> to install these recognizable stencils, which help to educate our UH<\/abbr> community on the importance of pedestrian safety,” said Commuter Services Manager Cate Matsushima<\/strong>. “This low-cost initiative is a simple reminder that one day could save a life.”<\/p>\n

The “Look All Ways” campaign raises awareness for common sense pedestrian safety protections. Eventually, they could include safety flags, reflective delineator posts and developing an Oʻahu<\/span> pedestrian plan, to define the steps needed to make Honolulu a more walkable, livable and healthy city.<\/p>\n
