The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hisbdc.org\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Small Business Development Center<\/a> (<span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>SBDC<\/abbr>) is a partnership program between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/\"><abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> Small Business Administration<\/a> (<abbr>SBA<\/abbr>) and <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Hilo.<\/p>\n<p>The accreditation will allow <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>SBDC<\/abbr> to continue to assist local budding entrepreneurs and businesses with ongoing <abbr>SBA<\/abbr> funding. The program also receives funding through the state Legislature to provide matching funds for the federal program.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/hilo-hawaii-sbdc-logo.jpg\" alt=\"Hawaii Small Business Development Center logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-91509\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/hilo-hawaii-sbdc-logo.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/hilo-hawaii-sbdc-logo-130x87.jpg 130w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The accreditation process assessed performance on a wide range of key indicators: leadership, planning, customers (clients), measurement, human resources, operations and results.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As a university-hosted program, we are naturally allied with the resources of higher education, and are a conduit for the forces of innovation and creation through encouragement and mentoring in support of those with the entrepreneurial spirit,&rdquo; said <strong>Cathy Wiltse<\/strong>, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>SBDC<\/abbr> state director. <span aria-label=\"&ldquo;Hawaii\">&ldquo;Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>SBDC<\/abbr> is focused on client satisfaction and assisting businesses to thrive or begin their entrepreneurial journey.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Giving new entrepreneurs a head start<\/h2>\n<p>In the past year alone, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>SBDC<\/abbr> has served more than 1,000 clients, created more than 300 jobs, and started 90 businesses through providing business advising and expertise to clients.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the services offered include business workshops and consultations from professional business advisors that give in-depth analysis of clients\u2019 business plans and development.
