The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa<\/a> lower campus parking structure is a little brighter with the installation of 30 new energy efficient LED<\/abbr> lights next to each stairwell and elevator.<\/p>\n

Commuter Services estimates the new fixtures will reduce energy costs by nearly 60 percent compared to the old lights. Additionally, these new LED<\/abbr> bulbs have battery backups allowing for short-term emergency lighting in case of power outages.<\/p>\n

“We are excited about the installation of new LED<\/abbr> lights, which are more efficient and use less energy,” said Cate Matsushima<\/strong>, Commuter and Fleet Services manager. “One of our goals is to make the parking structure more welcoming and sustainable for our UH<\/abbr> community.”<\/p>\n

This is one of the high-impact, low-cost projects that Commuter Services is implementing at the parking structure. Other projects include the Gecko Deco service project<\/a> with eye-catching signage giving campus visitors prominent and fun places to put their trash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
