It just is right for any student within the State of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Mililani High School College and Career Counselor Denise Yamamoto agreed. &ldquo;I feel <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa is a great choice for my students, because it\u02bbs kind of like the gem in our backyard,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;It gives students a variety of options in majors that they find interesting (and) they want to pursue.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa is consistently ranked among the world&#8217;s best research universities, and is one of only 115 Research 1 institutions in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Lassner<\/strong>, <abbr>UH<\/abbr> president and interim <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa chancellor, said, &ldquo;The opportunities that we offer to students to engage in meaningful research that touches <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> around oceans, around astronomy around health, around the environment, around our social problems\u2014they won\u02bbt get those experiences anywhere else.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Mililani High\u02bbs Yamamoto can attest to that. &ldquo;Students have come back to me after being here for a year.
