The student internships culminated in community presentations of their projects on August 9 and 10 on <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Island.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Malcolm Chun<\/strong>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaii.hawaii.edu\/et\">electronics technology<\/a> student at <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr>, worked at the Institute for Astronomy on a project to upgrade the system that opens and closes 22,000-pound doors on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifa.hawaii.edu\/88inch\/\"><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> 2.2m Telescope<\/a> dome.<\/p>\n<p>Chun said his experience shows the &ldquo;Akamai Workforce Initiative is an invaluable experience that serves up real-life challenges that prepare you for a career in science, technology, engineering and math fields.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julina Lee<\/strong>, who graduated from the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaii.hawaii.edu\/informationtech\">information technology<\/a> program in May, interned at the <a href=\"https:\/\/subarutelescope.org\/\">Subaru Telescope<\/a>. She worked on a project to modify how images taken at the summit at night are transferred to astronomers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noah Levine<\/strong>, also an information technology student, interned at the <a href=\"http:\/\/cfht.hawaii.edu\/\">Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope<\/a>.
