"Gene-iuses Day" enjoyed hands-on activities in a laboratory setting<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resource<\/a> offers Gene-iuses on a Mission events for elementary aged students on 12 Saturdays beginning August 4.<\/p>\n

Each Saturday Gene-iuses Mission brings students and their parents onto campus for 2 hours of exciting, engaging activites that encourage scientific thinking and appreciation for all things science related. Each session focuses on a specific science related theme (DNA<\/abbr>, cells, forensics, agriculture and much more).<\/p>\n

“The Gene-ius Day Program was created to teach the concepts of genetics in a fun, easy-to-remember way,” said Project leader Ania Wieczorek<\/strong>. “Each Gene-ius event is packed with hands-on experiments and activities that let students experience and enjoy science.”<\/p>\n

The Saturday Gene-iuses sessions are a spin-off from CTAHR<\/abbr>’s original Gene-ius Day<\/a> field trips for elementary schools.<\/p>\n

  • August 4 and 18 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.—Plants to the Rescue<\/li>\n
  • September 15 and October 6 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.—DNA Detectives<\/li>\n
  • October 20 and November 17 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.—Buzz Off!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
