Chung pledged $100,000 to support the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/uhcc.hawaii.edu\/culinary\/\">Culinary Institute of the Pacific<\/a> (<abbr>CIP<\/abbr>) at Diamond Head. The Outdoor Terrace at the <abbr>CIP<\/abbr> Signature Restaurant will be named after the Tai Yau Chung Foundation and Alvin H.L. Chung, <abbr title=\"doctor of dental surgery\">DDS<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;My family and I are so pleased to be making this gift to support the capital needs of the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. We are great proponents of both fine food and good nutrition, which we feel are keys to longevity and happiness,&rdquo; said Alvin Chung. &ldquo;The culinary arts education throughout the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Community Colleges has had many great successes. We are more than happy to help advance culinary education in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> which, in turn, will help our state continue to prosper.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A successful dentist, Chung has practiced in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> for 30 years. Passionate about the culinary experience in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, he has been a supporting member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College<\/a> <abbr>CIP<\/abbr> Honorary Committee since 2000.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Culinary Institute of the Pacific holds the promise of educating generations of culinary professionals from <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> and beyond,&rdquo; said <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr title=\"Community College\">CC<\/abbr> Chancellor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/leadership\/louise-pagotto\/\"><strong>Louise Pagotto<\/strong><\/a>. &ldquo;The state-of-the-art kitchen at <abbr>CIP<\/abbr> is all ready host to advanced culinary training, providing students and faculty with rich experiences in the exploration of culinary trends.
