Photo: John Wells, Kennedy Theatre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This fall 2018 University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/\">Department of Theatre &#43; Dance<\/a> brings a variety of mainstage and primetime shows at Kennedy Theatre.<\/p>\n<h2>Mainstage Series at Kennedy Theatre<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/cat\/\">Dr. Seuss\u2019s The Cat in the Hat<\/a><\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSeptember 14, 15, 21, 22 at 7:30 p.m.<br \/>\nSeptember 23 at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Doctor Seuss\u2019s beloved classic comes to life on stage in an action-packed, hilarious romp that is sure to delight all ages. <em>The Cat in the Hat<\/em> creates a day full of wacky adventure, wondrous balancing feats, and zany rhymes. It all seems under control (well, maybe not to the fish) until the Cat unleashes Thing 1 and Thing 2, as well as mischief and mayhem, on the house and leaving the children to wonder what mother will say when she returns home!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/wow\/\">War of the Worlds<\/a><\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nOctober 26, 27, 30 at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Radio Listeners in Panic, Taking War Drama as Fact&rdquo; read the <em>New York Times<\/em> headline on October 31, 1938. Many across the country who tuned in late to Orson Welles&#8217; live radio broadcast of H. G. Wells&#8217; <em>War of the Worlds<\/em> became panicked, thinking the broadcast play about aliens invading Earth was, in fact, real news. The Theatre and Dance Association presents a staged reading of Welles&#8217; drama in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the infamous broadcast.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Primetime Series at Earle Ernst Lab Theatre<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/setzuan\/\">The Good Person of Setzuan<\/a><\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nOctober 10, 11, 12, 13 at 7:30 p.m. <br \/>\nOctober 14 at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Three Gods visit the earth to find just one <em>mensch<\/em>; one good person who will justify the world&#8217;s continuation. No good person in <em>Schun<\/em>. <em>Kwan<\/em> was a bust. Maybe they will have better luck in <em>Setzuan<\/em>. But how can a person be good while desperately struggling to make ends meet? Shen Te must sell herself to get by. Wang must sell water but can only do that if it&#8217;s not raining. Rug sellers peddle their wares. Will the Gods ever find their <em>mensch<\/em>?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/ffoot2018\/\">Fall Footholds<\/a><\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nNovember 14, 15, 16, 17 at 7:30 p.m.<br \/>\nNovember 18 at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>This biannual dance concert showcases the culmination of years of study and sweat.
