The leadership award acknowledges Bingham\u2019s <abbr>NAAHP<\/abbr> presidency, board service and selfless work on behalf of its western association. She is the first <abbr>UH<\/abbr> faculty member to receive the honor.<\/p>\n<p>Bingham is director of the advising center for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/arthum\/\">College of Arts and Humanities<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/lll.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature<\/a>. She has set high standards of excellence for the center and its outstanding team, incorporating best practices garnered, in part, from her involvement with <abbr>NAAHP<\/abbr> and the western association. Bingham\u2019s sound, reasoned guidance and expertise make the center a campus gem.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am touched and humbled to receive the Carol Baffi-Dugan Award,&rdquo; said Bingham. &ldquo;I accept it on behalf of the many dedicated <abbr>NAAHP<\/abbr> and (western association) volunteers who also gave countless hours from their busy lives to position our organizations for future success.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>She added that &ldquo;students often enter healthcare professions with excellent skills provided them by their solid liberal arts education.
