University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> honored its pioneering graduates during its spring 2018 commencement ceremony, presenting them with a special medallion commemorating their graduation in 1977.<\/p>\n

The six were celebrated as N\u0101 Lehua ʻ\u016ala Scholars and cited for their role in UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> history. The May 5 ceremony included two of UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span>‘s original faculty, Dan Boylan<\/strong> and Ned Shultz<\/strong>, who presented Mila M. Kaʻahanui<\/span><\/strong> and the families of Miles Hashida<\/strong>, Richard LaGory<\/strong> and Eulogio Tabisola<\/strong> with the N\u0101 Lehua ʻ\u016ala medallion and certificate.<\/p>\n

“This year, in partnership with the UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> Alumni Association, we are presenting a new recognition, N\u0101 Lehua ʻ\u016ala, awarded to distinguished graduates of the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span> who have, like the red lehua once common in the ʻEwa district, blossomed forth and become a source of both sustenance and beauty,” said UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> Chancellor Maenette Benham<\/strong><\/a> during the commencement ceremony.<\/p>\n

“These individuals have contributed to and made an important impact in their community with the knowledge and skills gained through education at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span>.”<\/p>\n
