The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa Rainbow Wahine SandBows and women’s tennis team will be advancing to NCAA<\/abbr> tournaments this week.<\/p>\n

SandBows earn No. 3 seed in NCAA<\/abbr> beach volleyball championship<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Rainbow Wahine (35–3) makes its third straight appearance in the NCAA<\/abbr> Beach Volleyball Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama, after gaining the No. 3 seed as a West Region selection. Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> will open competition on Friday, May 4, against the No. 6 seed South Carolina (24–7) at 7 a.m. Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> time.<\/p>\n

This will be UH<\/abbr>’s fifth straight trip as a team to Gulf Shores. The SandBows also competed for the national title during the 2014 and ’15 American Volleyball Coaches Association Championships.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> comes in with huge momentum, having won a school-record 30 straight matches.<\/p>\n

Women’s tennis wins first Big West tourney title<\/h2>\n

Women’s tennis holds off Cal State Fullerton to win first Big West tournament<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The UH<\/abbr> women’s tennis team won its first Big West Tournament title with a 4–2 victory over Cal State Fullerton at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on April 29. With the win, the Rainbow Wahine advances to its second NCAA<\/abbr> tournament in school history. Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> improved to 13–6 overall.<\/p>\n

The team will be traveling to Stanford, California and will face Big Ten tourney champs, 23rd-ranked Michigan in the first round on May 11 at the Taube Family Tennis Center. No. 13-seed, Pac-12 champions Stanford will meet the Big East champions St. John’s in the other match on Friday. The two winners will square off in the second round on Saturday.<\/p>\n
