The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> presents spring concerts, All You Need is Love<\/a><\/em> and We Sing the Spring<\/a><\/em> at the UH<\/abbr> Hilo Performing Arts Center.<\/p>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo Jazz Orchestra presents a Beatles tribute concert.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo Jazz Orchestra presents a Beatles tribute concert: All You Need Is Love<\/em>, Thursday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. The show will feature some of the Beatles best-loved songs with selections from the albums Revolver<\/em>, Abbey Road<\/em>, Magical Mystery Tour<\/em> and the White Album<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The band will also perform several songs from the groundbreaking album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Orchid Isle Orchestra and performances choreographed by Dori Yamada<\/strong> and the 5,6,7,8s will also be featured.<\/p>\n

We Sing the Spring<\/em><\/h2>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo Kapili Choir, University Chorus and the Hilo Community Chorus celebrate choral music from past and present.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo Kapili Choir, University Chorus and Hilo Community Chorus present We Sing the Spring<\/em>, Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

The first half of the concert features a performance of John Rutter’s composition, “Requiem.” The seven-movement work builds on traditional Catholic and Anglican liturgy for a service of mourning while incorporating more contemporary idioms.<\/p>\n

The second half showcases each of the choirs in their own set of songs, with styles ranging from the Baroque to popular melodies of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, including selections arranged by island musicians Michael Springer and Rodney Wong.<\/p>\n
