The first Koʻolau<\/span> Creative Media Conference<\/a> will be held at Windward Community College<\/a>\u2019s Palik\u016b Theatre on Thursday, April 26, from 9 a.m.–7:30 p.m. The conference will feature speakers and breakout sessions for career-focused creative media artists and students interested in pursuing creative filmmaking (including performance work in the TV and film industries), documentary filmmaking, video game design and related fields. The conference is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Speakers include Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Film Commissioner Donne Dawson, ʻOhina Short Film Showcase Executive Director Gerard Elmore, Phoenix Artists, Inc. owner Gary Epstein, Pacific Islanders in Communications Executive Director Leanne Ferrer and University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Academy for Creative Media System Founder and Director Chris Lee<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

The all-day event will culminate with the annual Windward CC<\/abbr> Pueo Literary and Art Journal<\/em> book launch and a student film showcase in the evening.<\/p>\n

The goal of the conference is to bring current and prospective students, community and local creative media professionals together to connect them with opportunities to network and gain career-oriented training. Windward CC<\/abbr> will also debut its upcoming academic subject certificate in creative media to demonstrate the college\u2019s commitment to growing the local creative media industry.<\/p>\n
