Though it is officially observed on April 22, Earth Month events are being celebrated across University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> campuses.<\/p>\n<h2><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Hilo and <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Community College<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo will be celebrating <a href=\"http:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/news\/stories\/2018\/04\/12\/earth-week-at-uh-hilo\/\">Earth Week<\/a>, April 15&#8211;20, with farm-to-table food, documentary films, educational exhibits and fun activities. The week culminates with the annual Earth Day Fair and Conservation Career Day on Friday, April 20.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Earth Day celebration boasts educational videos, science demonstrations, expert guest speakers, a food sustainability panel, environmental science skill-building workshops, dance troupes, hula, storytellers, face-painting, campus garden tours, an environmental career fair, unmanned aerial vehicle flight simulators and many other engaging activities.<\/p>\n<p>The 6th annual <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/earthfair\/\">Conservation Career Day<\/a> is held in collaboration with the Earth Fair. The event draws local scientists and agencies in the field of natural resource management, with the overall goal to inspire local students to become environmental stewards and to pursue careers in natural resource management.<\/p>\n<p>For a complete list of events, <a href=\"http:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/news\/stories\/2018\/04\/12\/earth-week-at-uh-hilo\/\">go to <em><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Hilo Stories<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/calendar\/manoa\/2018\/04\/19\/32947.html?et_id=43496\">celebrates Earth Day<\/a> on April 19 at the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Campus Center Courtyard. Campus Center will be alive with community groups, music, activities, art installations and vegan food sampling. Connect with and learn from community groups who are paving the road for a healthier <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>. The art department and student fashion designers will be showcasing student created pieces that address topics like marine debris and climate change. Student bands will start at 3 p.m., opening for Mike Love who will be playing from 5&#8211;7 p.m. The event is hosted by the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Office of Sustainability and the Graduate Student Organization<\/p>\n<p>The <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Chapter of Surfrider Foundation and Surfrider <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Student Club are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/330049967515953\/\">joining forces to clean M\u0101noa stream<\/a>. They return to the Ka Papa <span aria-label=\"loi\">Lo&#699;i<\/span> O K\u0101newai on Saturday, April 21 to stage the event and will be cleaning the stream next to the dorms and above. In 2016 they cleared 3,000 pounds of debris from the stream, and are hoping for a big turnout of volunteers.<\/p>\n<h2><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College<\/h2>\n<p><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/231969320713676\/\">Mother Earth Day Celebration<\/a> in the &#699;Ilima courtyard on Wednesday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. gives participants the opportunity to meet community partners, taste food from local vendors, witness live poi pounding, and enter a raffle for prizes.
