(Photo courtesy: <abbr>COE<\/abbr>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa <a href=\"http:\/\/coe.hawaii.edu\">College of Education<\/a> (<abbr title=\"College of Education\">COE<\/abbr>) held its second annual <abbr>COE<\/abbr> Day at the Capitol on March 21, in conjunction with Education Week. More than 30 <abbr>COE<\/abbr> faculty, staff, students and alumni gathered at the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> State Capitol to showcase programs, celebrate achievements and build relationships with legislative staff and community stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to highlights of the college\u2019s award-winning programs, global research and community impact, this year\u2019s event featured the recognition of three outstanding <abbr>COE<\/abbr> mentor teachers as well as Miss <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr title=\"United States of America\">USA<\/abbr> 2018. <\/p>\n<p> Senator Michelle N. Kidani honored the outstanding mentor teachers before an audience in the Senate Gallery:  <strong>Ben Boltz<\/strong> (<abbr title=\"Master of Education in Teaching\">MEdT<\/abbr>, Institute for Teacher Education) from Waipahu High School, <strong>Susan Nakama<\/strong> (<abbr title=\"Master of Education\">MEd<\/abbr>, curriculum studies) from <span aria-label=\"Kaleiopuu\">Kalei&#699;i\u014dp&#699;u<\/span> Elementary School and <strong>Joni Wong<\/strong> (<abbr>MEd<\/abbr>, special education) from Pearl Harbor Elementary School.
