The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa<\/a> was honored with 2017 Tree Campus USA<\/abbr>\u00ae<\/a> recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation<\/a> for its commitment to effective urban forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa achieved the title by meeting Tree Campus USA<\/abbr>\u2019s five standards, which include maintaining a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning project. Currently there are 344 campuses across the United States with this recognition.<\/p>\n

“We are extremely gratified to be nationally honored once again by the Arbor Day Foundation,” said Roxanne Adams<\/strong>, UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa director of buildings and grounds. “We work everyday to make this campus an environmentally welcoming and beautiful place, not only for our campus community, but as a shining example of how thousands of trees can help to perpetuate sustainable living.”<\/p>\n

The Arbor Day Foundation has helped campuses throughout the country plant thousands of trees, and Tree Campus USA colleges and universities invested more than $48 million in campus forest management last year.<\/p>\n
