Casauria Foundation and Trane Comprehensive Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are grateful for the support of our partners who sponsor these awards every year,&rdquo; said <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> President <strong>David Lassner<\/strong>. &ldquo;They help us recognize, honor and reward the amazing work of our students, faculty and staff across all ten campuses as they innovate, collaborate and lead in amazing ways to inspire us in advancing sustainability across all ten <abbr>UH<\/abbr> campuses and the state.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2><abbr>UH<\/abbr> President&#8217;s Green Initiative Award Winners<\/h2>\n<h3>Green Project Implementation Awards<\/h3>\n<p>The award recognizes student-driven sustainability projects on-campus or in the community with measurable outcomes. The honorees receive cash awards of $5,000&#8211;$10,000 to implement their project.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Agile Power Project (Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation Green Project Implementation Award)<\/strong><br \/>\nProviding agile power quality monitoring to support the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> net-zero energy mandate and microgrid operations at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Solar-Biodiesel-Aquaponics Project (Johnson Controls Green Project Implementation Award)<\/strong><br \/>\nEfficient Production of food using solar\/biodiesel powered aquaponics systems at <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr title=\"Community College\">CC<\/abbr><\/li>\n<li><strong>The <span aria-label=\"UluNui\">&#699;UluNui<\/span> Project (Castiglione A. Casauria Foundation Green Project Implementation Award)<\/strong><br \/>\nPlanting 10 <span aria-label=\"ulu\">&#699;ulu<\/span> (breadfruit trees) from at least 3 different species of breadfruit and 10 niu (coconut trees) from at least 4 different species of the coconut family which are expected to produce fruit year-round at the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> campus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hahai n\u014d ka Ua i ka <span aria-label=\"ululaau\">Ulul\u0101&#699;au<\/span> &#8211; Rain Always Follows the Forests (Castiglione A. Casauria Foundation Green Project Implementation Award)<\/strong><br \/>\nIncrease propagation of mea kanu (native plants) through hands-on workshops and service-learning opportunities to create a living resource for our entire campus and the community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;The complex and interconnected challenges of our times&#8212;climate change, sustainability and resiliency&#8212;will require new ways of thinking, being and doing if we are to solve them,&rdquo; said <strong>Matthew K.
