Enjoy Damien<\/em>, the riveting drama of Saint Damien’s life in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, by Aldyth Morris and performed by Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> actor Dann Seki on Saturday, July 28, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 29, 2 p.m. at the Kennedy Theatre.<\/p>\n

Father Damien, now Saint Damien, was born in Belgium in 1840 and came to Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> in 1864. He was ordained at Our Lady of Peace Cathedral and in 1873 chose to serve the needs of people with Hansen’s disease who had been forcibly relocated to an isolated peninsula on the island of Molokaʻi<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Seki has appeared in numerous local commercials, most of the television shows filmed in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, and on stage at many of the local theatres. A storyteller since 1994, he has performed statewide at various libraries and senior centers, at the Windward Community College Storytelling Festival, the Talk Story Festival, First Night Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and more.<\/p>\n

The production is presented by the Mānoa Readers\/Theatre Ensemble, a coproduction of the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature and the Outreach College.<\/p>\n
